An announcement from the moderator

Occasionally people submit comments on a post, which actually contains content referring to a different post. However, we prefer that comments on a particular post deal with that particular post.

If people post comments which deal with a different post, the discussion will become incomprehensible to others. Therefore we have no choice than to disallow such comments, i.e. they will not be approved or they will be removed.

So if one wants to comment on, for instance, “In vitro meat and cannibalism”, please post the comment there and not on, say, “uterine transplants: a first step towards male pregnancy?”.

Unfortunately WordPress does not allow us to move comments from one post to another. People who post an otherwise decent comment on an irrelevant post, will receive an email with the request to resubmit their comment at the right post – provided that they have filled a correct email address.

Cosmic radiation research

According to Polish scientists radiation in space is much less hostile than had been expected. This research of great importance for future space settlements, as cosmic radiation is a major hazard for space travelers.

However, we can make a small point of critique: the research was conducted at the ISS, which well inside the Earth’s magneto-sphere. Our magnetic field protect our planet against space radiation.

The case for local banks

In the video below professor Richard Werner explains why local, small banks are important for a stable and prosperous economy.

Professor Werner argues that highly centralized, big banks favour big firms because that is most profitable for them. On the other hand small, locally rooted banks have more eyes for the need of the local economy and small firms.

Maybe it is an idea that banking licenses should only be valid in a small region instead of in the entire country.
