Under the proposed Mordan legal system animals cannot be property. Instead animal husbandry is legally described as a form of guardianship. Consequently theft of animals is legally impossible, nevertheless it is desirable to create an offence with a similar effect: animal abduction.
Animal abduction is defined as: “the removal of an animal which is under the legal guardianship of another without the permission of the animal’s guardian”. If this crime results in the death of the animal or cause injury, this will count as an aggravating circumstance.
To be clear animal abduction only applies to domestic animals, the illegal capture of wild animals will be a separate offence.
