Air pollution one more time

ScienceDaily reports of a Spanish study that shows that exposure around birth has a negative effect upon one’s cognitive abilities. Given that other studies on particulates have found similar and other negative impacts on human health, this study should not really surprise anyone.

As pointed out previously, a democratic society can only survive if it citizens possess a base level of cognitive skills. Therefore the government should do anything in its power to increase the intelligence of its citizens and this study gives, yet another reason for the authorities of future space settlement to implement strict rules in regard of air quality.

As a final note there seems to be a link to particulate exposure and autism. So it is safe to conclude that air pollution is really bad for neural development.
