Patent reform
Though we do not oppose the concept of patents as such, we believe that there are several issues with the current system that needs to be addressed. The three main issues with patents in modern society are:
- Patents on non-inventions
- Patent trolling
- Patents on inventions resulting from publicly funded research
On downloading
A couple of years ago we proposed the idea of a general data download tax to fund an alternative compensation scheme. Under this tax people would pay a charge for each, say, gigabyte of data they would download.
